Increasing support for young people vulnerable to explotation and at risk of HIV infection

Young people living on the streets and slums of Uganda are vulnerable to exploitation and at risk of HIV infection. Uganda Youth Development Link provides young people aged 10-24 living in slums with direct psychosocial support services in areas of reproductive health, drug abuse prevention, HIV prevention and child rights protection.

UYDEL uses football as an avenue to teach life skills such as problem-solving, decision making, and negation skills to improve participants communication and relationship with others. Teamwork and inclusion lie at the heart of their operations, and five of their centres are girls-only safe spaces where a wide range of female empowerment services can be found.
