ABOUT THE ROLE
As our Social Media Manager, you’ll be responsible for the content planning, day-to-day running of Common Goal’s social media channels and analytics, working closely with the Communications Lead and in-house content creator and graphic/motion designer to produce engaging content.
The role will require someone who is enthusiastic about social media and the role it can play in football and its ability to help drive social change. Through our channels we want grow followership, influence and recognition of the Common Goal brand within the football community and beyond, as well as attract new members and partners to join the movement.
This means being up-to-date with platform innovations, trends in social, and opportunities to break new ground. The Social Media Manager will have the opportunity to bring their own ideas to the team and help change the way football is spoken about in the digital landscape.
YOUR PROFILE
General requirements
- You have a degree in a related field of studies (e.g. communication, media science, marketing)
- You are a great listener and team player who enjoys taking responsibility and working in a diverse, culturally-rich and inclusive workplace.
- You are eligible to work in Germany.
- You work with your own initiative to take on responsibility and proactively problem solve
- You possess strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and multitask.
- You love to get things done, thrive on challenging the status-quo and have a genuine passion for our cause.
- You are fluent (or native) in English; knowledge of Spanish and/or German is an additional asset – but not essential.
Skill set and expertise
- You have a minimum of 4-5 years’ professional work experience, you understand social-impact communications and you know how to deliver purpose-driven storytelling.
- Your expertise in digital communications via social media allows you to effectively plan and execute day-to-day posting and the implementation of events and campaigns.
- You possess excellent copywriting skills in English.
- Extensive knowledge of traditional social media platforms, especially Instagram, X, LinkedIn and TikTok.
- Experience in managing paid advertising campaigns on Instagram, LinkedIn and other platforms.
- Experience in building community and meaningful engagement.
- Data Analytic skills to interpret data and use it to make informed decisions about content and strategy adjustments.
- Understanding of visual communications.
- You are passionate about women’s and men’s football, have a deep knowledge of the football calendar, and extensive knowledge of how football lives on socials.
- You love to get things done, thrive on challenging the status-quo and have a genuine passion for our cause.
YOUR TASKS
Strategy & Channel Optimisation
- Communicate Common Goal’s mission, vision, and values with empathy and sincerity across the digital landscape.
- Continue the development of distinct tailored strategies for each social media channel, understanding the unique audiences, formats, and strengths of each platform.
Planning, content Creation and management
- Lead the ideation process of content production across owned, shared, and paid media.
- Manage Common Goal’s content calendar.
- Work across all Common Goal social media accounts (Instagram, X, LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook, and TikTok).
- Write copy and publish content to social channels from various parts of the organisation - editorial and branded.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
- Work collaboratively with key stakeholders, both internal and external, such as graphic designers, videographers, brand partners, and agencies to create compelling pieces.
- Work with other departments to align Common Goal’s content agenda with developments and milestones.
Monitoring, Analysis & Reporting
- Lead monthly social media reporting, to interpret data and turn it into insights on how content can continually involve and improve.
- Monitor competitor activity and be reactive to existing trends within social media spaces.
